Deep Dish Dungeon Multiplayer: Co-op and Player Count

How many players can play Deep Dish Dungeon? Official co-op player count, online and cross-platform multiplayer, demo co-op, and how the party limit changed.

Deep Dish Dungeon is built for small-group co-op. You can explore the dungeon solo or with up to two friends, so a full party is three players. This page explains the official player count, the online and cross-platform options Steam lists, how co-op works in the demo, and why older articles may quote a different number.

How Many Players Can Play Deep Dish Dungeon?

The current Steam store description says you explore corridors, rooms and passageways "solo or with up to two friends". It repeats the point in its co-op section: you can play with up to two friends and work together to uncover the dungeon's secrets.

Why some sources say four players

When Raw Fury announced the partnership in August 2025, the announcement said players could explore "with up to three friends", which means four players. The live store page now says up to two friends. That is the current official figure, and we treat the store page as authoritative because it is the newer and maintained source. If you see "4-player co-op" elsewhere, it most likely comes from the 2025 announcement text.

Online Co-op and Crossplay

Steam lists these features for the full game: Single-player, Multi-player, Co-op, Online Co-op and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. The game launches on Windows and macOS, and it is Steam Deck Verified. The store does not spell out which platform combinations can play together, so treat crossplay details as unconfirmed until the launch build is out.

There is no listing for shared or split-screen play. At Gamescom 2025, visitors could play the demo solo or in local network multiplayer at the Indie Arena Booth. That was an event setup, though, not a feature promised on the store page.

How Co-op Feels in Practice

The developers describe co-op as cooperative, not competitive. The store page says co-op is "not about competition", but about connecting, sharing knowledge and taking care of each other. Several dev blog details show how that plays out:

  • Physical items you can pass around. Dev Blog #3 describes picking up objects, piling them up, or throwing them to a friend across a room.
  • Shared camp goals. Recipes are simple, but resources are scarce. Groups end up on self-motivated quests, such as gathering metal scraps so one player can craft new armor.
  • Talking strategy before an expedition. Dev Blog #5 frames cooking as a group decision: what stats will the party need for the next trip, and which meals provide them?
  • Splitting heavy work. Large objects can be carried and rotated, and the demo patch notes mention a "Let It Go" prompt for dropping heavy objects.

Does the Demo Have Multiplayer?

Yes. The free demo supports online play with friends, and its patch notes deal with lobbies and second players:

  • Demo v1013 (June 15, 2026) added rejoining a lobby, plus clearer error messages when finding lobbies, creating a game or joining a game fails. It also fixed a typo in the Sleeping Bag's "Offline Players" menu.
  • Demo v0271 (March 30, 2026) fixed the player list showing empty for Player 2, and fixed an "inventory full" message appearing for both players when only Player 1 was full.
  • Demo v0254 (March 4, 2026) fixed several Player 2 problems, such as losing the item bar after dropping multiple items.

v1013 also blocks accounts that have multiplayer restricted from joining online sessions. If a friend cannot join, check their platform account's privacy and multiplayer settings first.

Tips for Your First Co-op Session

  1. Agree on roles before you leave camp: one player carries the light source and one carries tools. Light and inventory space are both limited.
  2. Cook before each expedition. An empty stomach leaves every player weak, as our cooking guide explains.
  3. Since there is no map, name landmarks out loud. The dungeon was designed so that each room has a recognizable identity.
  4. Bring finds back to camp. New materials unlock new crafting recipes for the whole group.
